Abstract

Radiofrequency ablation (RA) and microwave coagulation (MC) are now becoming main methods of treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma. The shape of coagulated area by MC and that of ablated area by RA were compared on CT images. When RA (RITA) was performed with expandable type needle (RITA), the shape of ablated area tended to be more irregular, indicating that careful attention is required to secure safety margin.
