Abstract

Two types of electrolyzed water are available for agricultural use: slightly acidic and strongly acidic electrolyzed water. Both have been demonstrated to be effective in controlling plant pathogens. In this study, weekly applications of both types of electrolyzed water effectively suppressed strawberry powdery mildew caused by Podosphaera aphanis var. aphanis and gray mold caused by Botrytis cinerea. For powdery mildew, they showed higher disease suppression than fungicide applications at 10-day intervals. Furthermore, slightly acidic electrolyzed water exhibited higher control efficacy than strongly acidic electrolyzed water against both diseases, particularly against powdery mildew.
