Velocity fields around two square cylinders in a tandem arrangement are measured by means of split fiber probe. For the spacing ratio L/D = 3, the separated shear layer from the upstream cylinder attaches to the downstream cylinder and does not go through between the two cylinders. On the other hands, for the spacing ratio L/D = 4, the separated shear layer from the upstream cylinder forms recirculation region behind the upstream cylinder. As a result, a diagonal flow which intersects between the two cylinders and a high curvature flow which changes the flow direction in the region between the two cylinders are formed.
