Abstract
This paper presents a method to identify flutter derivatives (FDs) from gust response of a bridge deck section model. The aim of the study is to clarify the effects of turbulent flows on FDs by using a section model wind tunnel test. Wind tunnel tests on trussed deck section have been carried out with different turbulent flow properties. The more challenging is the application of a system identification method to identify FDs from gust responses for the section model. The results are also compared with a conventional free-vibration method for one and two degree-of-freedom systems. The analysis includes the investigation on the effect of turbulent flows on extracting FDs. The output only time-domain analysis stochastic system identification is proposed to extract simultaneously all FDs from one and two degree of freedom systems. Finally, the results under different conditions are compared and concluded.
