Abstract

We have encountered by chance a spontaneously infected tuberculous guinea-pig among a large number of guinea-pigs sold in a certain store. The nutrition of this guinea-pig is relatively good, nevertheless the macroscopical tuberculous change is quite severe. This reason is perhaps owe to the weak pathogenicity of the microorganisms. The tuberculous change is observed more strongly in liver than in lung and spleen. Acid-fast and non-acid-fast bacilli are found in smeared preparations by the Ziehl-Gabbet's staining, and the same bacilli is also observed in the tuberculous lesion by the histological examination.
We have cultivated the bacilli from the lesion in liver on the Petroff's medium, and the further bacteriology about the bacilli is now under investigation.
