Abstract

Stable hydraulic pressure pulse series can be generated by an appropriate valve operation. It was showed experimentally and analytically that the boosted continuous flow can be obtained by using the pressure pulse series directly. The pressure of the pulse was amplified by a booster piston, and it ran up to about 420 MPa at the frequency of 15.2 Hz. And the pressurized continuous oil flow higher than 300 MPa was obtained experimentally by using the amplified pressure pulse series at the source pressure of 6.6 MPa. By using this pressure pulse series generator as a lateral pressure cutting device of a ductile material, an alminum column of 20 mm diameter with a notch was cut at the pressure of 204 MPa and the repeating number of 580 times. Hydraulic pressure pulse series generator discussed in this paper is practical enough to be used as an pressure intensifier and a lateral pressure cutting device.
