Abstract
A laser-2-focus velocimeter (L2FV)was used to measure the flow in a premixed propane/air burner flame. Turbulence intensities and Reynolds stress as well as mean velocities are derived on the basis of joint probability distributions of time-of-flight and flow angle obtained by a L2FV. A typical bimodal flow pattern was observed in a flame zone when solid particles of SiO2 were used. DOP (di-octyl phthalate) aerosols which would be evaporated by combustion were used for conditional sampling in unburned reactants. As a result, it is shown that the bimodal flow pattern consists of an unburned reactant flow and a burned gas flow.
