This paper deals with the concept of human-interactive control (HIC), which is one of the basic technologies for the implementation of a human-oriented manufacturing system. The HIC system was incorporated in a CNC lathe using a laser displacement meter. Higher machining accuracy was obtained through the HIC system as compared to that obtained with the conventional feedback control system. Moreover, increased satisfaction of both novices and skilled workers was obtained for the HIC system as compared with the conventional one.
