Herein, the potential and industrial feasibility of microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (μPADs) are evaluated. The μPADs are a new kind of diagnostic tools that can offer a facile, ultra-low-cost and quantitative analysis. Since they are made of paper, they are easy-to-handle, highly producible and readily disposable. Until now, various methods for microchannel patterning have been developed. In terms of mass production, we note the viability of industrialization of μPADs.
