Abstract
Cyclic polyphenylenes have much attention for through-space and through-bond π-π interactions between aromatic systems and for inclusion properties of metal ions. We synthesized the title compound 1, and investigated its fluorescence. Interestingly, 1 shows a strongly fluorescence with Φf =1.0. In addition, the title compound easily incorporates a silver cation. Moreover, the absorption spectra of the charge-transfer (CT) complexes formed by mixing several acceptors with the title compound as donor were measured in dichloromethane. The structures and properties of these complexes will be discussed.
