Abstract
Sumanene, a partial structure of fullerene, is a bowl-shaped pi-conjugated molecule, which has three benzylic positions. Mono-, di- and tri-anions can be generated selectively by treatment with a strong base. Herein, we report the synthesis of the zirconocene complex from the mono-anion of sumanene. The ferrocene complex was also synthesized via haptotropic rearrangement from methylcyclopentadienyl iron eta6-sumanene complex under the basic conditions.
