Fruit damage caused by Lymantria species was investigated in apple orchards in 2009 following an outbreak of Lymantria dispar, which damages apple leaves, and Lymantria mathura aurora, which damages both apple leaves and fruits. No fruit damage was observed in orchards where insecticide was applied in late May. When no insecticide was applied in late May, up to 10% of the fruit was estimated to be damaged by L. mathura aurora.
