Pyricularia zingiberi, causal organism of blast disease of mioga (Zingiber mioga), sporulated moderately in the dark. Sporulation of the fungus was enhanced by ultraviolet radiation shorter than 380 nm. On the other hand, blue light (390-540 nm) suppressed the sporulation. Incidence of blast disease of mioga was reduced to less than 10% in ultraviolet absorbingvinyl film greenhouse as compared with incidence levels in a common agricultural vinyl film greenhouse.
