Chrysanthemum stunt viroid (CSVd) was isolated from field grown chrysanthemums in Sagae, Yamagata Prefecture in 1995. The complete nucleotide sequence of the CSVd-Sagae isolate was determined (EMBL/GenBank/DDBJ accession number: D88895). It consists of 354 nucleotides and contains 4 substitutions relative to the English isolate, and 2 deletions and 6 substitutions relative to the Australian isolate. Phylogenetic relationship among seven CSVd isolates, including Japanese isolate (Tochigi-isolate), were also investigated.
