Abstract
Undescribed diseases occurred on Perilla (Perilla ocymoides L.), Nalta jute (Corchorus olitorius L.) and Malabar nightshade (Basella rubra L.) in Miyagi Prefecture in 1996 to 1998. Fungal isolates obtained from the diseased plants showed pathogenicity to the host plants by inoculation tests. All isolates were identified as Verticillium dahliae Klebahn on the basis of morphological and cultural characteristics. This is the first report on Verticillium wilt of these plants in Japan.
