Abstract
Some Pythium species were isolated from ungerminated seeds of adzuki bean, which were seeded in moistened soil collected from the bean field, and then inoculated at 10°C for 10 days. The five isolates of Pythium spp. inhibited or retarded the growth of adzuki bean roots. This suggests that Pythium spp. are the causal agents of ungermination or damping-off of adzuki bean in Hokkaido.
