Abstract

Twenty seven cases of multiple early gastric cancer involving resection during from April 1965 to January 1989 were studied according to clinicopathologic features. The incidence of multiple early gastric cancer was 5.5% of a total 488 cases of early gastric cancer. The mean age of patients was 60.9 years, and there was a greater incidence of males. Both the primary and secondary lesions tended to show the same macroscopic type, and were located in the M area. Histologically, the differentiated type was of high incidence in both lesions. The depressed and flat types of less than 5mm in diameter tended to overlooked preoperatively. Examination of the whole stomach should be carefully practiced in elderly males with the differentiated type of gastric cancer.
