Intelligent Bio-Plastic Performing Shape-Memory and Recycling

Abstract

We developed a new intelligent poly(lactic acid) (PLA) derivative that performs recyclable shape-memory by cross-linking with a thermo-reversible bonding. This bonding based on a DielsAlder reaction provides the PLA derivative with excellent shape-memory due to its cross-linked structure below the bond-association temperature and enables it to be recycled by melting it above the bond-dissociation temperature.
