Abstract
For pressure markers of cubic crystallographic symmetry, the most symmetric diffraction indexes, 111 and 200, are free from the effect of preferred orientation. This unique character enables us to analyze mean pressure and deviatoric stress simultaneously in the high pressure apparatus without ambiguity due to crystal grain preferred orientation. The usefulness of the new analysis was successfully verified through an experimental data of the Au pressure marker in diamond anvil cell. The present 111-200 analysis yields ~0.3 GPa higher mean pressure compared with the previously determined pressure values. The deviatoric stress was estimated to be less than 0.07 GPa in general. It implies that the Au pressure sensor is sensitive with deviatoric stress.
