Abstract
In the present paper, 12 species of Scarabaeoidea are recorded from Minnajima Island lying between Miyakojima and Ishigakijima islands, the South Ryukyus. Of these, 7 species are newly recorded from this island: Phaeochrous emarginatus, Aphodius postpilosus, Ataenius picinus, Anomala albopilosa sakishimana, Anomala miyakona, Anomala cpustulata cpustulata, Maladera oshimana. Of the species recorded from Minnajima, one species and three subspecies (Anomara miyakona, Protaetia ishigakia miyakona, P. pryeri nitidicosta and Gametis forticula miyakona) have also been recorded from Miyakojima but not from Ishigakijima. This suggests that the fauna of Minnajima is more closely related to that of Miyakojima. Anomala cpustulata cpustulata were very abundant and observed to eat Vitex rotundiflia near the seashore.
