The importance of controlling environmental factors in severe asthma

Abstract

There is increasing evidence that certain environmental factors are involved in the pathogenesis of severe asthma. In this review, we discuss the involvement of the immune cells and cytokines contributing to the pathogenesis of severe asthma in relation to environmental factors. We also discuss the importance and practical avoidance of environmental factors and point that could facilitate appropriate indication of allergen immunotherapy and biologics which would provide favorable control of asthma.
