Fisheries high schools have long-term off-campus training, such as ocean navigation training, in which classes are also conducted. During this training period, students will maintain their academic ability through self-study, but this is not easy. Therefore, we focused on video teaching materials as a tool to support self-study. We developed a lecture video for fisheries specialized subjects. In order to measure the learning effect of this teaching material, we conducted an intervention experiment with students from two courses in different fields of fisheries high schools. We divided the students from each course into one group who received video lecture and another group who received lectures directly from teachers, and then conducted a descriptive test after classes. When a t-test was performed on the results, it showed that the video lecture class having the same or better learning effect as the traditional lecture class. As a result, it was found that the developed lecture video supports self-study and has a high learning effect.
