New distributional records of Foenatopus cinctus (Matsumura, 1912) (Hymenoptera: Stephanidae) from Japan

Abstract

We newly record Foenatopus cinctus (Matsumura, 1912) from Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Yaku Island, and Iriomote Island, Japan. The variation on this species is reported by Hong et al. (2011) as vein 2-cu1 is 0.5–1.2 times as long as vein cu-a. However, some specimens we examined have vein 2-cu1 less than 0.5 times as long as vein cu-a or almost disappeared. We identified them as F. cinctus based on other characters.
