Graphium cloanthus (Westwood, 1841) had been known for four subspecies: ssp. cloanthus (Westwood, 1841), ssp. clymenus (Leech, 1893), ssp. kuge (Fruhstorfer, 1908) and ssp. sumatranum (Hagen, 1894). Among them, ssp. sumatranum was raised to specific level as an independent species, G. sumatranum (Hagen, 1894). In the wing markings, coloration of spots of G. sumatranum is yellower than those of G. cloanthus. In this report, the male genitalia of the two species were morphologically compared and the anellifer, harpe and ampulla of the valva were found to be stably different between them.
