Abstract
A method for continuous measurement of the end-feeding efficiency of the cocoon filament in an automatic silk reeling machine was developed. This method of measurement showed the effective feeding end as being a change in tension of the cocoon filament due to the movement of feeding-end arm, and the ineffective feeding end as being when the tension of the cocoon filament did not change with the movement of the feeding-end arm. On the basis of this principle, an instrument was constructed to measure the end-feeding efficiency of the cocoon filament for a predetermined period of time, and then to record and print the value measured. At first, this operation was performed on an experimental basis so as to verify the accuracy of the method. In order to further evaluate the performance of the measuring instrument, some experiments were conducted with an automatic silk reeling machine. It was shown that this method of measurement to determine the end-feeding efficiency of the cocoon filament was accurate. At the same time, it was shown that the measuring instrument could operate automatically record the values without requiring any manipulation. The measurement process is continuous.
