Abstract
In order to measure the cocoon size and variation as an evaluation method of cocoon quality, the measurement system with an image processing device was constructed. This system was installed in an automatic cocoon sorting machine. The measurement precision and repeatable measurement properties of cocoons size were demonstrated. The cocoon quality suitable for actual using by this system testing were measured. As a result, it was confirmed that the size of cocoons (the major and minor axis of cocoons, and the area of cocoons) moving on the V type belt of the automatic cocoon sorting machine could be accurately measured. At the same time, the average size and variation (standard deviation) values in each cocoon testing lot were able to be calculated by a computer. This system is useful as a measurement method for evaluating cocoon quality.
