On the Turbidity of Aqueous Dimethyl Sulfoxide Solutions of Polyvinyl Alcohol

Abstract

The turbidity velocity of the aqueous dimethyl sulfoxide solutions (40⁰₀, water) of PVA was measured on some samples polymerized in several solvents, at several temperatures, or copolymerized with a few comonomers. It was observed that the greater was the turbidity velocity, the less was the degree of swelling of the PVA films in water.
