Polymerization of Formaldehyde by the Catalytic Systems Consisting of Two Components

Abstract

Polymerization of formaldehyde was carried out with the use of catalytic systems consisting of Lewis scids and others such as Lewis acids, Lewis bases, IXn type compounds and organic halides. High molecular weight polyoxymethylene with the reduced viscosity higher than 1.0dl/g was obtained by SbCl₅-C₅H₅N, PCl₅- (C₆H₅) ₃CCl, and SbCl₅-ICl as a catalyst.
