Abstract
The characteristic properties of commercial high pressure polyethylenes are usually represented by the values of MI and density. In this report, it was shown that two polyethylenes having same values of MI and density sometimes had different properties as was exemplified in tubular film processability and film properties. Moreover, these differences of properties were found to be characteristic for resin producers or polymerization processes and these characteristic features were plainly represented by the simple correlation of MI- [η]. The MI- [η] correlation was scarcely affected by molecular weight distribution and degree of shortchain branching. Important contribution of molecular structure, especially of long-chain branching structure was suggested.
