Abstract

Many childcare magazines are still being published today, and their teaching plans and special articles are used in childcare settings. Seminars for childcare workers are held every year sponsored by childcare magazine publishers, and these seminars play a part in improving the qualifications of childcare workers and the quality of childcare. The author has been conducting research on the childcare magazine “Nursery” ;published before and during the war, and how the contents of published articles and instructional plans have changed with the progress of the current situation. At that stage, I came across that the publisher of “Nursery” , All Japan Childcare Federation (within the Osaka Mainichi Shimbun Social Services Corporation), was holding a seminar for childcare workers. Therefore, in this study, I would like to clarify the influence and role they had on the childcare industry at the time by tracing the purpose and content of the seminars sponsored by the All Japan Childcare Federation, focusing on articles published in the magazine “Nursery” Although the number of participants may seem small at first glance, this research has revealed that in the 1930s, childcare workers were actually paying large amounts of money for participation and transportation costs to participate in the seminars.
