A Novel Oligosaccharide Derivative Developed for Cosmetic Use with Preservative Efficacy Based on Excellent Safety and Antibacterial Properties

Abstract

It is important to inhibit the growth of microorganism in order to prevent quality deterioration of cosmetics. However, preservatives existing in cosmetic formulations such as parabens have a negative image. Materials with preservative effect have been recently used in place of the preservatives but still they have many points to be improved. Therefore, we studied a hexylamino-modified β-cyclodextrin derivative (a citrate salt) as a novel cosmetic material that was highly safe with preservative efficacy.
