Abstract
Oral examination of 1, 121 workmen was made in a certain glass factory of Kanagawa Prefecture where they were working in the workshop of a high temperature, much of dust, and use of gas. Relationship of their posts and age to dental caries, calculus deposit and periodontoclasia was stochastically observed and summarized as follows :
1. There could be seen no difference of the number of carious teeth in the workshop environment and the caries incidence was 5.7 per cent, being below the average.
2. The number of workmen with carious teeth was 53.9 per cent, being markedly below the average.
3. Many non-treated teeth could be found in the workmen of 21 to 25 years of age.
4. Difference of calculus deposit in the workshop could be noticed.
5. No special relationship of calculus deposit or periodontoclasia and caries in the work-shop could e noticed.
6. Abrasion of the anterior teeth due to glass blazing and malalignment of the denture could not be noticed in this factory (Authors' Abstract) .
