Abstract
As Takei et al. already reported, the activity of alkaline phosphatase in saliva has shown a statistical difference between young male and female. It has been also stated that the activity of alkaline phosphatase in various tissues of the female is connected with the sexual cycle, and according to the report by Ring et al., the alkaline phosphatase in the buccal epithelium of rat shows a higher activity when estrogen is given. We are especially interested in the relation between activity of saliva phosphatase and female sexual cycle when such Ring's report is taken into consideration.
The authors have observed the saliva phosphatase with female student for about 40 days. Being only one case, it could not be evidently concluded, but it seems that the activity of acid phosphatase considerably fluctuates indifferently to the menstruation, with the alkaline phosphatase, on the other hand, a considerable fluctuation is observable after the menstruation.
