Abstract
Omi no Kimi is originally written in the conversation of her father, who is Naidaijin, the Minister of the Interior. It means that she has been called as a ladyʼs maid since she began serving under her sister-in-law Kokiden. This name implies that her status has changed from a daughter of Naidaijin (a princess) to a ladyʼs maid. Like the name of Omi no Kimi, Akashi no Kimi is also named after the land of Akashi. This name, however, embodies a story about Hikarugenjiʼs wandering and resurrection. While a working title is generally given after the status of a womanʼs father or brother, the name of Omi no Kimi can be considered to be used to show that she has been separated from the family of Naidaijin by her father.
