Abstract
The causal virus of asparagus bean mosaic is transmitted by the mechanical inoculation with the expressed juice and by the aphids, Myzus persicae and Aphis medicaginis. Astragalus sinicus, Canavalia ensiformis, Phaseolus angularis, Vigna sesquipedalis, and V. sinensis are susceptible to the disease and produce systemic mottlings. Cassia bra is also susceptible to the disease and forms only local lesions.
The thermal inactivation point of the virus lies between 55°and 60°C., and the longevity in vitro is found to be between 12 and 24 hours. The dilution end point is between 1:1, 000 and 1:2, 500.
