Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relaxation effects of odor and music on the human body through the change of physiological parameter after stress loading. Subjects were 6(3 males and 3 females, mean age: 30. 0years)healthy adults. We measured EEG, HR, SBP, DBP, RR as a physiological parameter. Profile of Mood States(POMS)was used for examining the psychological condition and Krapelin test was used for loading stress for 15 minutes. Lavender was used in the experiment, and a drop(0. 05ml)of essential oil was applied to the inside of the wrists on both arms. The relaxation music which is used for reducing stress was presented to the subjects for 5 minutes. EEG results indicated that the power value of a wave was expanded by the stimulus of odor and relaxation music. HR and SBP was significantly changed by both odor and relaxation music(P<0. 05). RR was significantly changed upon application of both odor and relaxation music(P<0. 01). No significant change was found both in DBP upon application of both odor and relaxation music. These results suggested that odor and relaxation music were effective on the human body in relaxation against stress.
