Abstract
We observed laser oscillation for a multimode Nd-doped solid-state clad laser under quasi-solar-pumping simulated by an intense metalhalyde lamp with a color temperature of 5600 Kelvins. The rod was 3mm in diameter and 10cm in length. We obtained a maximum output peak power of 1.1W, where the injected power of the lamplight was 12.5W and the maximum optical-optical conversion efficiency obtained by reducing thermal load was 20% in the case of the rod-type Nd/Cr: GSGG
