Abstract
A spectral cross-correlation interferometry, which was combined with a near-field scanning optical
microscope, and a cross-correlation dark-field imaging microscope were applied in the spatiotemporal
characterization of femtosecond plasmon localized at gold nanostructures, surface plasmon polariton
propagated at a plasmon waveguide, and plasmon nano-focusing at a tapered gold tip. Based on the
plasmon response functions in both the amplitude and phase obtained from these measurements, the
femtosecond plasmon pulse was deterministically tailored by shaping the femtosecond excitation laser
pulses
