Abstract
We overview the techniques for improving the performance of reservoir computing (RC) using complex
laser dynamics and introduce two schemes: a mutual coupling system and a chaos mask system. We use
two mutually coupled optoelectronic oscillators as a reservoir in the RC based on the mutual coupling
system. We also introduce a chaos mask signal for preprocessing input signals in the RC based on a
semiconductor laser with optical feedback and injection. The RC performance is evaluated by a chaotic
time-series prediction task. We numerically show that these two schemes improve the performance of
the time-series prediction task.
