Abstract
Terahertz waves corresponding to the frequency range of 0.1 to 10 THz are used as a tool not only for measuring physical properties, but also for sensing and communication technology in recent years. Three-dimensional artificial structures having various optical functions have the possibility to realize versatile terahertz wave control. However, conventional fabrication techniques typified by lithography are difficult to apply in producing three-dimensional structures with a size of about a terahertz wavelength. In this research, we demonstrate that it is possible to fabricate terahertz optics by utilizing femtosecond laser processing and 3D printing as new three-dimensional artificial structure fabrication technologies. By using each technology, a terahertz anti-reflecting structure and a terahertz high-pass filter were fabricated and their outstanding characteristics were confirmed using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy.
