Abstract
A method for measuring the energy of a large-output laser using quartz crystals with al ow laser light absorption factor is described.
A pulse YAG laser (1.06μm wavelength and g ms or less pulse width) is irradiated to 0.2 and 1.0mm thick quartz crystals with a focusing diameter of 0.1mm. It is possible to determine the laser energy from the integrated values Q for voltage generated between the electrodes.
This measurement method can be used when the pulse power density is less than 5×107W/cm2.And by changing the thickness of quartz and the time constant of detector, it is possible to decrease the dependence of Q on the pulse width. lt is better to use AT-cut quartz.
