Abstract
We have developed a micro-lens processing technique by “laser ion-exchange”. The lens was produced on a soda-lime glass plate by CO2 laser beam irradiation. This technique is based on the annealing on the irradiated surface and the ion-exchange at the bottom. Conclusions are as follows. (1) This technique is capable of producing a micro-lens having a short focal distance on a glass plate without marked distortion on the contour except for the inside. (2) The focal distance of the lens is reduced by increasing the shot-number of a laser. (3) At the bottom surface of the glass plate irradiated with a laser, ion-exchange between K+ and Na+ was observed with an electron probe X-ray micro analyzer.
