Present Development of High Power Lasers in Russia

Abstract

The recent some technologies in Russia on high power lasers are reviewed. The potential of Russia is inherently seen to have higher level at these fields in which some institutes are now opened to foreign visiters. Large dimension optics, laser materials and nonlinear optic crystals are developed and phase conjugation technology is generally used in high power laser systems. Fusion-fission hybrid reactor project with a nuclear pump laser is proposed. The medical and energetic laser development and its application are seemed main issues in restructuring institutes.
