Abstract
We fabricated a launching coupler for hollow fibers by using combination of a lens and a tapered hollowwaveguide. The tapered-hollow glass waveguides with a polymer and a silver thin films on the inside werefabricated by a liquid-phase deposition technique. The tapered-waveguide with a 1.4mm inner diameter at theinput end, 0.7mm at the output end, and the length of 10cm shows transmission losses of 0.08-0.12 dB forEr: YAG laser.
