Abstract
To develop a broad-band laser for application to inertial confinement fusion, we have constructed a frequency modulation system that is based on cross-phase modulation in polarization preserving single-mode optical fiber. With the system, 16-GHz phase modulation was achieved using the interference between an output pulse of a single longitudinal mode Nd: YLF laser and a Brillouin-shifted component stimulated in multi-mode optical fiber.
