Abstract
We report on the implementation of performance evaluation using interactive learning materials on Moodle. Interactive learning materials, which can promote active engagement through learner interaction, can be designed as performance assessment tasks that appropriately evaluate learning outcomes and provide effective feedback in real time by analyzing the learning process expressed as an operation log. As a concrete example, this study integrated STACK question types with dynamic simulation materials developed in GeoGebra and implemented a performance assessment task that provides feedback by evaluating the operation logs on the materials. The integration was made by adding simple JavaScript modifications to the standard STACK functionality. For the log evaluation, we defined regular expression patterns to match features considered to be corresponding to appropriate performance and used the string regular expression matching in the potential response tree. These results show that performance evaluation, which can be easily implemented and extended by teacher-role users for their own purposes, can be implemented as an application of Learning Analytics.
