Abstract

1) With the skin test antigen extracted from pertussis cells by heating in acid(pH 1.8) and through ammonium sulfate and picric acid precipitation, an absorption test was performed on pertussal capsular (K) and somatic (O) antigen to investigate the identity or differences between these antigens.
2) The skin test antigen completely absorbed K antibody in H. pertussis antiserum, but when heated at 100ª for 30 minutes, it lost the absorbing power.
3) The skin test antigen did not absorb O antibody in the above mentioned antiserum, proving non-relation between the two.
