Abstract
The relative sensitivity coefficient of an element in spark source mass spectrometry is defined, and the coefficients of several elements in the matrices of Al, Fe, Ti, and Cu were determined. Results are as follows(Fe:1):Mg 12.1, Si 2.0, P 3.6, Ti 1.6, V 1.4, Cr 1.4, Mn 2.0, Co 0.85, Ni 0.68, Cu 1.2, Zn 3.1.
The variations of measurements are about ±50%, and no significant evidence of matrix effect is seen. The physical meaning of the relative sensitivity coefficient is discussed and a rough correlation between the coefficient and the heat of sublimation and the ionization potential of the element is examined.
