Mass spectra of 22 allyl alcohols were measured by electron impact ionization.
The moleculer ions are abundant in the mass spectra of lower allyl alcohols.
The characteristic peaks in the mass spectra of allyl alcohols are the fragment peak at m/e82, M+-H2O. And the structure of the fragment ions appears to be R-_??_. The estimated structure appears to be supported that the fragment ions in the mass spectra of cis-allyl alcohols much abundant than that of trans-allyl alcohols.
The(M+-H2O)ions in the mass spectra of allyl alcohols would be estimated as the fourmembered ring ions that are produced by1, 4-elimimation through a sixmembered intermediate.
