Abstract

The total yield curves of the ion formation from several paraffinic and olefinic hydrocarbons were measured and the decomposition processes are discussed. The C3H5+and C2H3+ions from the n-C4H10+ions may be formed by the hydrogen molecule abstraction reaction. The fbrmation of the C2H4+ions from the iso-C4H10+ions and the cis-2-C4H8+ions may be attributed to the hydrogen migration reaction, while the C2H5+ions from the iso-C4H10+ions and the cis-2-C4H8+ions may be formcd by the rearrangement of hydrogen atoms. The relative yield of the ion formation seems to closelycorrelated with each decomposition process.
